Nature Connection for Families 

Join us for nature-based games and hands-on practices that help families build ecological awareness and a deeper connection with the natural world. Bring a picnic dinner and stay back for our Sounds of Twilight tour at 6.30pm.

Sounds of Twilight 

Take a stroll to the Japanese Garden and enjoy the tranquillity of the lake at dusk. As the light softens and the colours of the day change, the air fills with the curious sounds of summer twilight. Micro Bats and Flying Foxes wake and take to the skies and the frog chorus begins with gusto!

Explore your connection to nature through digital art on country with Bernard Kelly Edwards

Meeting at Nature Discovery Centre at the North Coast Regional Botanic Garden, participants will be guided on how to connect to country through observation and reflection and how to interpret those connections using Photography & Digital Art. Bernard is a Gumbaynggirr Digital Artist.

Calling all amphibian amigos! 

Hop along and discover the amazing world of amphibians. Learn the signature sounds of our local frogs, explore their secret hideouts and find out how you can help to keep them happy in healthy habitats.

Wildlife After Dark + UV photography

Join us for a spotlight safari to meet possums, gliders, koalas, and other nocturnal wonders. Get creative using a UV torch to reveal details invisible to the human eye and glimpse the world as insects see it!  Use a smart phone to snap amazing photos of glowing flowers, orb weavers and other wild surprises. 

Date: Friday 16th and Friday 23rd January

Bushtucker talk and tasting with Aunty Sue and Uncle Rob 
Take a walk on the wild side with Aunty Sue and Uncle Rob Tompkins from Bushtucker Shack. Explore native plants, hear their stories, and taste delicious bush flavours along the way.

Bird Language – Listening & Recording  

Using professional recording equipment, participants will have the opportunity to observe, record and then listen back to the recordings, as well as viewing the various spectrograms of the recordings. A fun and explorative workshop that will fill young minds with wonder and change the way they experience their environment.

Mini Beasts Macro Photography

An Ecological Mystery Game 

Children become bush detectives who investigate clues to solve a perplexing mystery in this hands-on, fun game. Following their curiosity and great questions, the detectives learn wildlife tracking skills and ecological concepts along the way.
