Traditional Tool-Making Workshops with Matt Flanders

Join Gumbaynggirr Knowledge Holder Matt Flanders in a culturally safe space for a hands-on workshop exploring the Gumbaynggirr traditional knowledge and craftsmanship involved in making traditional tools.

This workshop provides participants with the opportunity to learn how to identify and select appropriate materials, understand traditional tool-making techniques, and create their own a hand-crafted tool.

Saturday Aug 15^th – Boomerang making

Saturday 29^th August – Spear making

Monday 28^th September – Axe making

Thursday 1^st October – Shell tools

At this stage, participation is available exclusively to Aboriginal people aged 18 years and over (12 years and over for the shell tool making workshop only).
