Nature Discovery Centre
The Nature Discovery Centre is a space to learn about and connect with the natural world.
Book the Nature Discovery Centre as ‘base camp’ for your next school excursion or community workshop.

The ‘outdoor classroom’ is fully accessible and designed for hands-on, experiential learning. There is a native food, fibre and habitat garden, a native beehive, an insect hotel, a potting station and a fireside seating circle.

Indoors, there is flexible seating for up to 50 people, interactive displays and resources to support learning about local biodiversity. A collection of treasures such as shells, seed pods, birds’ nests, snake skins and animal bones inspires awe and great questions as a jumping off point for investigation. A library of field guides, Deadly Science books and beautiful narrative picture books encourage authentic learning through questioning, seeking and finding out.

Guided programs can be organized with our specialist educator and knowledgeable guides team for a small fee. These experiences harness a sense of adventure, curiosity, creativity and connection to deeply engage leaners of all ages.
For self-led excursions, our Education Kits are designed to help busy teachers organise high-quality learning experiences. These kits contain curriculum-aligned, ‘outdoor classroom ready’ lesson plans and comprehensive notes matched to a walk in the Botanic Garden.
Teacher Experiences
“Every year I visit with my Horticulture class from Trenayr Tafe, it is always a highlight of the teaching year. Students always love it, and we all really appreciate this opportunity. Such a fantastic spot to learn. Thank you.” – Nicole Stautner, Horticulture Class Teacher.
“The children were highly engaged and motivated. We all came away with a deeper appreciation of nature and the wonderment of the beautiful gardens… This was one of my favourite excursions with a group in my twenty-five years of teaching. I loved every aspect and can’t wait to revisit in the new year.” – Rachel Palmer, Micro Classes Australia
