A Living Library of Plants

The botanic garden is more than just a beautiful parkland with plants. The garden is also a curated collection of plant biodiversity supporting scientific study, education and conservation.

The Living Plants Collection in the garden has records of over 6,000 plants from eastern Australia and around the world including rare and endangered species. This collection is central to the conservation role of the botanic garden alongside other work in the plant nursery, herbarium and seed bank. The seed bank supplies seed for habitat restoration projects across the north coast region of NSW in collaboration with Landcare and others.
These conservation programs are supported by the Friends of the Botanic Garden and a team of volunteers in collaboration with the City of Coffs Harbour and other partners.
