Garden Logo

In October 1983 a competition was held to design a logo for the Garden. Prize money was $50.00 and 40 entries were received. The winning entry was submitted by an Australian graphic designer who was working in England, but happened to be on holiday in Coffs Harbour at that time.

The design is a stylized version of the broad-leaved Geebung (Persoonia stradbrokensis), an endemic shrub growing throughout the Garden. The yellow flower at the centre is about the size of a five cent piece.

A broad-leaved Geebung was planted at the Garden entrance by the late Hon. Sir Alexander Beattie at the official opening of the Garden in September 1988.
